High-school students discovered a new maser source with VERA Ishigaki station (vol.28: 2005.9.1)

High-school students in Ishigaki island joined a program to search for new maser sources with VERA 20m telescope, and discovered a new maser toward the Constellation Scorpion. 13 students attended a program to have an experience in radio astronomy, and observed 272 positions in the sky to look for new maser sources with VERA 20m telescope.

After data analyses by themselves, they detected several H2O maser sources, and one of them was confirmed to be new source.
